Happy 24th Anniversary to these high school sweethearts!
I wanted to dedicate this post to the two most special people in my life: my mom and dad. I could not be more grateful and honored to get to witness the greatest love story ever told, not to mention it’s my personal favorite (I may be a little biased!). They are the real life Barbie and Ken, if you don’t believe me, my dad even built my mom her pink ‘dream house.’
As I was snooping through my mom’s old scrapbooks, I stumbled upon at least one hundred hand-written letters from my father. In each, he would tell my mom how much she meant to him and how much he loved her. If I have learned one thing from my parent’s marriage, it’s that soul mates truly do exist, and if you’re lucky enough to meet yours in your lifetime, do whatever you can to hold onto him or her!
My parents attended Hersey High School and lived a few minutes apart. My dad was in the band and my mom was a pom-pom girl. They were always close friends and hung around with the same groups of people. Eventually, they developed feelings for each other and the rest was history. They got married in Mt. Prospect and later moved to Long Grove to raise a family. Below are some hilarious pictures from high school:
Can’t you tell where I get my fashion sense from?! LOL.
It’s no secret that I’m a bit crazy about my family. My mom, dad, and brother are the most important people to me and I would be absolutely nothing without them. The love that my parents share has been so inspiring to me and I cannot thank them enough for showing me what I want and deserve in the very distant future!
So thank you, mama and pops, for continuing to write the best love story ever told. Your relationship is more beautiful than any country song I have ever listened to. I love you both unconditionally!
